The Minister for Fair Trading has announced that the government will
adopt the recommendations of an independent evaluation of Continuing
Professional Development (CPD) programs to enhance and improve their
operation for property and building licence and certificate holders.
The recommendations are contained in the Executive Summary of the Evaluation of CPD . It is anticipated that the changes will commence from 1 July 2007 after consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The key changes appear to include:
- the reduction of the reduces the burdon on multiple licence holders
is that from 2 April 2007, they (multiple licence holders) will only be
required to undertake 12 points per year. - The simplification of the "Learning category" system from four to
two. You will still be able to do a one day session with an assessment
at two points per hour or complete the points in your own time online
or by correspondence at 1 point per hour. - There will be morescope for what topics the CPD will cover rather than the directed learning areas of the past.
This report is, of course, only a submission so it remains to be
seen what the final look will be but it seems that CPD will be come
less of a burdon on all concerned.
